Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) is India's largest and most respected trade union, committed to justice, welfare, and the holistic development of every worker.
Join Us Learn MoreFounded on 23rd July 1955 by Shri Dattopant Thengadi, Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh has grown to become the largest trade union in India, with over 17 million registered members across all states and union territories.
Our organization is built on the principles of ‘Nation First, Worker First’ and believes in integral humanism. We are not merely a collective bargaining agent but a movement dedicated to the comprehensive development of the worker—economically, socially, culturally, and spiritually.
BMS operates on a decentralized structure with active units in over 8,500 industrial areas and more than 25,000 villages. We engage with all major sectors including manufacturing, mining, textiles, transportation, public services, IT, and the unorganized sector.
We have consistently played a pivotal role in shaping India's labour policies, advocating for fair wages, social security, safe working conditions, and gender equality in the workplace. Our approach combines constructive dialogue with peaceful agitation when necessary, always keeping the national interest paramount.

Guided by the philosophy of 'Integral Humanism', we strive for a society where labour is dignified, valued, and integral to national progress.
To secure for workers fair wages, decent working conditions, social security, and a life of dignity. To empower workers through education, skill development, and legal awareness. To foster a sense of national responsibility and cultivate a harmonious relationship between labour and capital, ensuring productivity benefits both the worker and the nation.
We actively work to eliminate exploitation, child labour, and gender discrimination in the workplace. Our mission extends beyond economic demands to include the cultural and spiritual upliftment of the worker, recognizing them as the builder of the nation.
To build a self-reliant India with a prosperous, skilled, and empowered workforce that drives sustainable economic growth. We envision a labour ecosystem where rights are protected, duties are performed with pride, and industrial relations are based on cooperation and mutual respect.
We strive for a future where the Indian worker is globally recognized for quality, innovation, and ethics. A future where the contributions of labour are justly rewarded, and every worker has access to healthcare, housing, education for their children, and a secure retirement.
We engage in a wide spectrum of activities to protect worker interests and contribute to nation-building.
We negotiate with employers and government bodies for fair wage agreements, bonuses, and service conditions. In the last fiscal year alone, BMS successfully concluded over 1,200 major wage settlements benefiting more than 4 million workers.
Our approach is data-driven and principled, ensuring sustainable outcomes for both industry and labour.
We operate a network of over 200 legal aid cells across India, providing free legal assistance to workers in disputes related to wrongful termination, compensation, harassment, and implementation of labour laws.
Our advocacy team actively participates in parliamentary committees, shaping legislation like the new Labour Codes, ensuring worker-friendly provisions.
Through our 'Kaushal Vikas' initiative, we have partnered with NSDC and various sector skill councils to train and certify over 150,000 workers in the last five years in trades like welding, electrical work, IT skills, and hospitality.
This enhances employability, productivity, and prepares the workforce for Industry 4.0 challenges.
